WHY I STARTED MY OWN BUSINESS

My mom arranged flowers. My dad drew portraits. One sister owns an interior design business and the other owns her a pottery company. A creative career path seemed inevitable as I began to explore what I could do. Early on I expressed my creativity through using my walls as a scrapbook of sorts. I’m highly introverted so I turned my closet into a little oasis I could hide in, adds photos to and read or draw. Think lava lamp, covered walls, bean bag, and stacks of notebooks and gel pens. I loved to take photos. I’d get them printed and arrange them on my walls like collages. My mother was kind enough to not make a big deal with putting hundreds of wholes in her walls haha. After running out of wall space I began to use books to create these collages and memories. As I got into junior high I joined Yearbook not knowing what graphic design really was. I loved it. I’d stay late to work on it and if someone didn’t want to design their pages I quickly offered! Around 9th grade, I found my calling for graphic design. I was the teenager that knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up and I lacked patience for getting there. School was frustrating for me. See I wasn’t a good test taker so the only things I excelled in were art projects and volleyball. I was ready to skip ahead…

After graduating from college with my design degree, I had already a few years of work under my belt for which I was truly grateful for. I jumped into work headfirst and I never really looked back until the summer of 2019. I began to think through the things I haven’t been able to do with my design background. Life shifted quite a bit for me and I decided to try my hand at freelance design and launched Kutz Made. Kutz Made was born out of a passion to help my fellow creatives brand what they love!

Over the years, I’ve worked in many spaces, universities, corporate, event companies, and agencies. While I've had a vast array of design experience, I haven't been able to fulfill my desire to collaborate with other creative entrepreneurs through brand identity as much as I would have liked.

WHAT DOES KUTZ MADE DO?

I design branding for creative and passionate entrepreneurs that want to elevate their business. I started Kutz Made with the top priority to help creative entrepreneurs brand their businesses. Why creatives specifically? Artists, designers, content creators, fashion gurus, makers, we all have a way of feeling the burden to constantly create. You shouldn’t have to be creating EVERYTHING on your own! You have mastered your field so now, it’s time to translate that into branding to help create space in your head to focus on your content/product.

HOW CAN I HELP YOU?

Think of about your daily to-do list, how much of it relates to your branding? ALL OF IT! That means every time you're communicating with potential clients/customers/buyers (email, social, website, collateral) it all should be matching and branded consistently. If you haven’t gotten your branding done or maybe you DIY’d it yourself, there is so much that you are having to make decisions about daily. That takes away brain space and time away from your other tasks.

When your branding is done right, those decisions are cut exponentially because you’ve already nailed down the fonts, colors, and graphics you need to be using and how to use them. Now you can focus on pushing your business and offerings forward without getting tied up on which color should go where.
